Diverse, Global University

Learning doesn't stop when you leave the classroom. At Missouri State University, you will have the opportunity to engage in one of the most culturally diverse learning communities in the state: Missouri State's students are from more than 80 countries and 47 other states. Here are some of the ways we support and value diversity on campus.

Our commitment to diversity

The Internet, more access to international travel and an increasingly global economy have driven home the point that we are not alone – what happens in one place is likely to have an effect on another. Missouri State is committed to a racially, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse student body because we know students can no longer be successful unless they understand and appreciate other countries and cultures. We learn from one another – if we looked the same, talked the same and thought the same, nothing would ever progress or change. New ways of thinking lead to ingenuity, which helps you solve complex problems. Diversity is also good for your career. Your future co-workers may be a different race, may be from another country or may speak a language other than your own. You will need experience communicating with people different than you to be effective in the workplace.

International Student Service

International Service

The staff in the office of International Services works to ease the transition for all international students and scholars. The office offers a variety of services and resources designed to help students and scholars adapt to their new home away from home. International Services can assist with applications and all official documentation. International students must submit their applications for graduate school to International Student Services.

Multicultural Student Services

The Multicultural Student Services office helps the University meet the needs of the diverse student body at Missouri State. The office is here to listen and respond to students from historically under-represented ethnic groups including African-American, Asian-Americans, Native-Americans and Hispanics. The office also coordinates a wide range of social and scholarly campus activities that will enhance and enrich your Graduate College experience.

English Language Institute

The University offers a comprehensive English Language Institute that can help students improve their English prior to their entry into the Graduate College.
